Mallory Edens rips Chris Sheridan for calling her ‘trophy daughter’
Mallory Edens, the daughter of Milwaukee Bucks owner Wesley Edens, is not pleased with an NBA reporter who referred to her as a “trophy daughter” in a column on Tuesday night.
Chris Sheridan, who runs his own NBA website now after working for ESPN and the Associated Press, mentioned how the NBA has instituted a new “no family” policy for the NBA Draft Lottery. Sheridan complained that it deprived fans of getting a look at Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor’s wife Becky, who was originally supposed to be on stage representing the team.
Sheridan also mentioned Mallory Edens.
Yes, this is a shame. But the lottery is not about trophy wives or trophy daughters or even trophies — at least in the short term. It is about hope for the future, and the T-Wolves have a little more of that now with a young core that includes Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins, 2013 No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett (if he does not turn into LaRue Martin 2.0) and the Spaniard who is the Mallory Edens of young men, Ricky Rubio.
Edens, 19, did not appreciate Sheridan objectifying her.
. @sheridanhoops so just for clarity, common thread that underwrites "trophy" wife, daughter, and "GF" is women = possessions, right?

Good for her. There’s no denying that Edens is a beautiful young woman, but does that mean her looks are the reason her father let her take part in the NBA Draft Lottery? Perhaps she is interested in the family business, as most 19-year-olds would be if their dad owned an NBA team.
We all enjoy looking at the gorgeous girlfriends of players when they get drafted, but Sheridan is wrong to assume that Wes Edens was showing off his daughter. To his credit, he issued an apology on Wednesday morning.
Apologies for going overboard on irreverence. Did not intend to offend anyone. My bad.
