Steve Kerr returning to Warriors bench Friday
Steve Kerr will return to the Golden State Warriors bench on Friday.
The team officially announced the news on Friday morning, as Kerr will take charge of the team at Oracle Arena when they host the Indiana Pacers.
Kerr had been sidelined since October due to multiple back surgeries and the team was turned over to interim coach Luke Walton. They hardly skipped a beat during that time, as Walton coached the team to a 39-4 record, a run so great that the league had to compromise its policy and make the interim coach eligible for awards recognition. Kerr has always been there, though, drawing up plays for the team despite his absence.
The entire situation has gone about as well as it could have. The Warriors played great, Kerr got healthy, and Walton’s reputation got such a boost that he’s reportedly being eyed for head coaching jobs himself now.
