Ohio Punter Paul Hershey Deletes Twitter Account After Dissing Idaho Bowl

Ohio University punter Paul Hershey deleted his Twitter account shortly after receiving backlash for sending a disparaging tweet about the Idaho Potato Bowl. Hershey’s Bobcats are scheduled to play in the bowl game against Utah State on December 17th, and he was less than thrilled with the development.

“Idaho?? Who the f*** wants to play there in December??” he tweeted Sunday.

Hershey received instant backlash. Some fans told him to be grateful for the invitation. Others said he should have won more games if he wanted to go to a better bowl. It didn’t take long for Hershey to back down.

“Hahaha I’m gettin a lot of hate for my tweet on the bowl bid. Punters don’t like the cold. That’s all I’m sayin,” he later wrote.

A few hours later, Hershey deleted his account. I’m not sure if he was anticipating a sweet vacation to Miami or something, but plenty of people have pointed out the irony in someone who attends school in Athens, Ohio complaining about traveling to Boise, Idaho. I haven’t been to either place, so I really can’t compare them. But I will say that I always appreciate people expressing their true feelings. And if his opinion is any reflection of his team’s attitude, you can bet Utah State will win the game.
