Ohio State freshman RB Bri’Onte Dunn avoids drug charge after mom takes the rap

One lesson all athletes learn once they become big-time is that they need to have a designated weed carrier in their posse. It looks like the mother of incoming Ohio State freshman running back Bri’Onte Dunn is currently serving that role for him.

According to the Canton Repository, Dunn avoided drug charges stemming from a traffic stop last Saturday night. Dunn was driving a car registered to his mother, Donna Hatcher, when he nearly hit a police car. Police stopped him and found a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in the car.

Dunn apparently acted politely to police and was adamant that the marijuana was not his. When his mom arrived at the scene, she reportedly told officers that the weed and pipe were already there before he took the car.

Dunn escaped with just a disorderly conduct charge and seat belt violation. He also avoids entering fall camp in coach Urban Meyer’s doghouse.

Mom of the year candidate? Quite possibly. We definitely know a few parents who could learn something from Hatcher. And we really hope that the weed wasn’t hers. That would be pretty sad if she left drugs in her car and got her son in trouble for it.
