49ers fans to buy billboard in Seattle taunting Seahawks with Super Bowl trophies

The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks currently have one of the best rivalries in football. The NFC West foes are two of the NFL’s best teams, and they both know it. Earlier this season, Seahawks fans bought a brick at the 49ers’ new stadium and paid for a “12th Man” banner to be flown over Candlestick Park. Now, Niners fans are firing back with a billboard.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, a group of Niners fans have raised more than $8,000 to pay for a billboard less than a mile from Seattle’s stadium. The proposed billboard would feature a photo of Dwight Clark’s legendary play “The Catch” hidden behind five Vince Lombardi Trophies — signifying the five championships San Francisco has won.

The idea is the brainchild of a Niners fan named Aasheesh Shravah, who currently lives in New York but grew up in the Bay Area.

“I called up Seattle companies and got some prices, and we figured if we could raise at least $7,000, we’d be able to do something in response to the banner,” Shravah told CSNBayArea.com. ”So many people responded. It has been amazing the support this thing has received.”

Shravah said any additional money that has been raised beyond covering the cost of the billboard will be donated to the Seattle Children’s hospital.

The photo you see above could be similar to the actual billboard, though it is just a design that was proposed by a 49ers fan on Facebook. The billboard is expected to remain up through December and January. Those of you who have been paying attention to football know that Pete Carroll’s team looks pretty damn good. I’d hate to see them when they’re angry.
