Brian Mitchell blasts Robert Griffin III over recent comments (Video)

Robert Griffin

Earlier this week, Robert Griffin III found his name in the news because of comments he made during an interview where he expressed the feeling he is the best quarterback in the NFL. Given his play last season, and that he was benched for Colt McCoy, it’s not surprising Griffin’s remarks caught the attention of many.

Former Redskins player Brian Mitchell is among those who digested Griffin’s comments and had something to say about them. And boy did he. Mitchell blasted Griffin in a rant close to four minutes in length.

In a follow-up to his original comments, Griffin talked about how he is less than pleased at the media using his name for “headlines and clicks.” To that Mitchell said the media isn’t out for Griffin, but that he says things that are “off-kilter, stupid, and sometimes asinine” that give the media fuel. Mitchell also went on to say Griffin thinks everything is “a damn joke” and he loves to have people around him what he wants to hear and coddle him. Mitchell wasn’t done there. He continued to say Griffin isn’t “that damn important to think we need your name to go out there and get people to click on stories.”

There’s quite a bit to digest, but it’s clear Robert Griffin’s act is wearing thin with atleast one member of the Redskins Ring of Fame. As is the case in many situations, winning would go a long way in helping to keep the heat off RGIII. If that doesn’t happen with the regularity Redskins fans like, it could be a long season in the nation’s capital for Griffin.
