Browns reportedly want Sam Bradford

Sam BradfordThe Cleveland Browns are in the market for a quarterback, and they are pursuing one whether it’s via a trade, free agency, or the draft. They are expected to part ways with last year’s starter Brian Hoyer, while last year’s first-round pick Johnny Manziel entered rehab and does not appear to be ready to lead the franchise.

Bleacher Report insider Jason Cole mentioned two players the Browns are pursuing at this point: Sam Bradford and Josh McCown.

McCown is a free agent after being released by the Buccaneers. He has met with the Bears and Bills, while the Jets and Browns also have interest.

The more intriguing name is Bradford, who reportedly was given approval by the Rams to pursue a trade. Bradford is in the final season of his rookie contract and is set to make nearly $13 million. Cole says there is “interest” from the Browns in Bradford, and that they would take a run at the former Heisman Trophy winner, especially if he is available in a trade for a second or third-round pick. However, Cole cautions that Bradford might not go along with a trade and that he would rather have the Rams cut him so he can become a free agent, or restructure his contract so he can remain with them long term.

The likelihood of Bradford ending up in Cleveland seems low because we know the Rams have said they want to keep him. But we know for certain that the Browns want a quarterback and that at least a few teams value Bradford.
