Jameis Winston credits Chiefs’ ‘Warchant’ for helping him feel at home

Jameis-Winston

Kansas City Chiefs fans are fond of doing a “Warchant” that is eerily reminiscent of the one Florida State Seminole fans do. For Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston, that was a very welcome perk on Sunday.

Winston, a Florida State alum, credited the Warchant for making him feel like he was playing in Tallahassee again.

“Man, the crowd noise was amazing,” Winston said, via JoeBucsFan. “Every third down they did the Nole Chant. And I was so pumped up. It really made me feel at home. So I loved playing here. Every chance I get to do the Nole Chant — I was even doing it with the fans at the beginning of the game.”

This isn’t just Winston taunting the fans, either. He legitimately believed it was going to help him and the team. Per the site, Winston told his teammates during the game that they would be good on third downs because that was when the fans did the chant. Sure enough, the Buccaneers converted 11 of their 16 third down opportunities on Sunday, a key part of the team’s 19-17 win.

Winston’s career hasn’t gotten off to the best of starts. Apparently one solution is to make him feel like he’s playing at Florida State again.
