Jerry Jones: Cowboys want to sign Greg Hardy to long-term deal

Greg Hardy

Greg Hardy has been a major distraction for the Dallas Cowboys this week, and team owner Jerry Jones is apparently interested in rewarding the defensive end’s rogue behavior with a long-term contract extension.

On Monday, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team would “absolutely” like to sign Hardy to an extension and that it is “very much a possibility.” In his weekly interview with 105.3 The Fan Tuesday, Stephen’s old man agreed.

Jason Garrett has made it clear that Hardy won’t be disciplined for blowing up on special teams coach Rich Bisaccia after the Cowboys allowed a kickoff return for a touchdown against the New York Giants. You can see the video from that incident here.

There has been some speculation that Hardy’s outburst may have been something similar to when Dez Bryant was trying to fire up his teammates two years ago, but it’s hard to give Hardy the benefit of the doubt when you read this report about him missing practice last week.

The Cowboys have come under serious fire for defending Hardy’s antics. People are even more disgusted to hear the Jones family stand behind the defensive lineman given his history with domestic violence. It would seem that none of that has deterred the ownership group. Hardy has made an immediate impact on the Cowboys’ defensive line. I guess that’s all that matters.
