You didn’t think Rex Ryan would let Tom Brady say he hates the Jets and not have a comment, did you? Tony Dungy and Ryan may have been able to make nice after a very short-lived verbal feud, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for the same to happen now that Brady and the Jets coach have come out and said they dislike one another. Here is what Rex Ryan said in response to the comments Brady made about Hard Knocks and the Jets on Monday morning, courtesy of Pro Football Talk:
“He knows we hate the Patriots. Join the [Jets-hating] club.”
“My brother has a couple Super Bowl rings and he loves Tom Brady,” Ryan said. “ I don’t have them so I don’t like Tom Brady. I respect him, but I don’t like him.”
Rex is of course referring to his brother, Rob Ryan, who worked under Bill Belichick for the 2001 and 2003 Patriots Super Bowl teams. We already told you we think Brady handled himself well when talking about the Jets on Monday morning. The same goes for Ryan. There was no way he was going to back down from the comments and we know Rex is as big a fan of trash talk as anyone, but at the same time I think he let a bit of humility show through with the Super Bowl ring comment. God help us if and when the Jets win a championship. Better start getting the aspirin ready now.
