Rob Gronkowski says he puts his job first
Rob Gronkowski has spent the offseason cultivating the image of a party animal. There were the pictures of him dancing shirtless after losing the Super Bowl, and another picture of him hitting a beer bong while on vacation. Despite the careless attitude he displays off the field, Gronk says his job as a professional football player comes before everything else.
“I got my commitment book in my right pocket,” he told reporters on Wednesday, per the Boston Herald. “I know what’s going on, and I just like to go and hang out with everyone. (I’m) always working out, always grinding, and that’s what I put first. But I’m just chilling and when I’m bored at the house and someone calls me up, and it’s a cool event, I’m there.”
Given his meathead behavior, it’s easy to forget that Gronk just put up the best season ever by a tight end. Yes, you read that correctly — Rob Gronkowski posted better stats than any other tight end in the history of the NFL (albeit playing in a different era).
Even though he comes off like a goofball, he’s obviously doing a lot right when it comes to his preparation. He also says he’s close to completing his post-surgery recovery program, which is another reason for opposing teams to be fearful.
