Ryan Leaf had a hilariously perfect response to Mel Kiper Jr.’s first mock draft, which had Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen going No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Browns.
Many people don’t understand why Allen is considered a top quarterback prospect given how bad his statistics were this season. CBS Sports analyst Barrett Sallee made a point of that on Twitter:
Mel Kiper's No. 1 overall player in the NFL Draft finished eighth in completion percentage, seventh in passer rating and sixth in passing YPG in the Mountain West.

Leaf, who once upon a time was a highly regarded prospect coming out of college at Washington State, shared this response on Twitter:
Then again he picked me ahead of Peyton too, just sayin!!

Leaf went No. 2 overall to the Chargers in 1998, while the Colts happily took Peyton Manning at No. 1. Manning went on to have a Hall of Fame career in Indianapolis, while Leaf turned into a massive bust. Perhaps Leaf is seeing Kiper make the same mistake all over again by going with a high-ceiling player.
