Wes Welker’s wife Anna Burns rips Ray Lewis after Ravens beat Patriots

Anna-Burns-Wes-WelkerThe Baltimore Ravens defeated the New England Patriots to punch their ticket to Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday night, but the conclusion of the game has not resulted in the conclusion of smack talk. Terrell Suggs blasted the Patriots after the game and seemed beyond thrilled to knock them out of the postseason. Bernard Pollard ripped Tom Brady for sliding into Ed Reed with his cleats high.

On the New England side, it’s once again the wives who are doing the talking. Check out this message that Wes Welker’s wife, Anna Burns Welker, posted on Facebook after the game (via The Big Lead):

That’s certainly a fair point about the NFL treating Lewis like a role model, but didn’t Burns Welker learn anything from Gisele Bundchen’s comments about New England’s receivers after last year’s Super Bowl loss — in particular her husband?

Personally, I’m dreading having to listen to Ray Lewis for two weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. Is he one of the best linebackers to ever play the game? Absolutely, but his over-the-top drama can be too much to handle at times. Nevertheless, Lewis has earned the right to preach for 14 more days before his career comes to a close.

UPDATE: Burns Welker contacted us with an apology for her comments about Lewis:

“I’m deeply sorry for my recent post on Facebook,” Burns Welker told Larry Brown Sports in a statement. “I let the competitiveness of the game and the comments people were making about a team I dearly love get the best of me. My actions were emotional and irrational and I sincerely apologize to Ray Lewis and anyone affected by my comment after yesterday’s game.

“It is such an accomplishment for any team to make it to the NFL playoffs, and the momentary frustration I felt should not overshadow the accomplishments of both of these amazing teams.”

Hmmm.  Having trouble staying on topic, are we?

And just a piece of advice…if you want people to take you seriously, and not simply dismiss you as a snarky 14 year old, you might want to avoid using the word “dudes”.

What Mrs. Welker said was with candid, unsensored raw emotion. Once word got out of her negative rant, my guess is the NFL had the Patriots get to her with a retraction they prepared. People, this is a contact sprot that produces $5 billion dollar a year. The NFL must keep the lid on stupid people in order to protect their brand AT ALL COSTS. There are other examples of derogatory statements that are retracted with apologetic undertones, however do not represent the true feelings of the author.

All that is good and honorable and loving in life be with and within you David. I will pray that you are not forever jaded by a few misguided people who claim to know the lord and you come to know him. I am far far far from what I should be but

The response I gave was not directed toward you or any non believer such as yourself. You are free to feel superior, have all the answers to life’s unanswered questions and judge all you want. Whatwever happens is not for me to know. I simply know Jesus myself but do know that aside from that and a few loving sayings by the lord I know hardly anything. Religion or no religion common sense says that the best way to live is to do unto others as you would have done unto yourself.

Here’s the deal, I am a forgiving person but I would never take any kind of money if I thought someone who was a participant in any way in the murder of a loved one of mine would evade a just punishment. I am far from well off but I do not think I could let a bad person evade justice who committed a violent crime against a family member or protected those that did do so.

On a side note since people are so quick to demean the perps it is very possible given the situation and environment the perps were in that they themselves could have fallen victims. I am not judging just stating that in these type of situations many times there is more than one party carrying a weapon, “most usually a gun” to a night club in a big city. At least in the ones not highly protected.

If I am the victims family I want Ray Lewis to spend serious time in jail even if only for obstruction but especially if he played any kind of direct role in the killing of my relative. Regardless of the circumstances.

Nobody says you can’t dislike Ray Lewis but when people make pointless and unchristian judgments about his love life and those type of things it is like they are somehow devoid of human error or sins.

As of now Ray Lewis has maintained a law abiding life that we know of, at least since the incident in question. If he has taken up his sin with any higher power it is for him and that higher power “should that higher power exist” to worry about.

He is a free man from our nations justice system and that is just the way it is. Your belief or disbelief in him or a higher power does not matter. It will not change things.

The best thing is to not worry about it because it is pointless. A person does not need to be religious to know they are far from perfect people in any belief system or way of living.

Our nation has laws and they are far from perfect but they are dealt with better than many other nations. No system is perfect and that is a shame but a fact. Whether there be a hell for a future judgment or not nobody can state that as a fact. Though it would be nice.

In the end I myself do not believe in eternal damnation or fire and brimstone. I do however believe all are held accountable for the harm they cause themselves to a minimal degree and to others a much higher degree. That is just me though and not some proven fact I can show you. Do as you wish and let the cards fall however they will.
