Sean McVay had the perfect closing line to sum up the Los Angeles Rams’ first win of the 2026 season.
The Rams easily dispatched the New York Giants on Monday night in a 28-6 affair at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. The home team benefitted from injuries to several key Giants, but the win still counted all the same.
McVay was in a much-improved mood after the Rams’ first stateside game of the year compared to last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne.
After the Niners game, McVay fielded questions about his team’s polarizing travel schedule for the contest. The Rams coach made light of that on Monday as he delivered a parting message to the media during his press conference.
“Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. And sometimes you have a dumba– coach that makes travel plans that puts you in a bad spot. There you go. That’s a drop,” McVay said before walking away from the podium.

The 49ers traveled to Australia a week ahead of the season-opening matchup to help the team acclimate to the new environment. The Rams, however, chose to arrive just a day before the Sept. 10 showdown and looked lethargic in a 27-7 divisional loss.
On Monday, the Rams did most of their traveling on the field. L.A. tallied 481 total yards compared to New York’s 182. Matthew Stafford went an efficient 22/31 for 327 yards, 4 touchdowns, and an interception.
