Excerpts from Hank Haney’s book reveal Tiger’s sex-rehab lessons and porn pranks

Hank Haney‘s tell-all book about Tiger Woods, “The Big Miss,” is set to hit bookshelves next week, but already this month we’ve been treated to select excerpts, such the one about Tiger wanting to become a Navy SEAL. But just in case the passages that Golf Digest and The New York Times have shared with us were a little boring for your taste, the New York Post is here to save the day.

The Post on Saturday revealed some of the more sordid tidbits of Haney’s memoirs from coaching Tiger, who Haney at one point describes as “the nerdy kid with glasses and braces. When Tiger first got to Stanford, [golfer] Notah Begay called him Urkel.” Particularly, there was the time when Tiger explained to his coach his lesson from sex rehab.

“There are some girls who are going to be after me even more now, especially the wild ones,” Tiger told Haney. “But what I learned is that for the rest of my life I can’t have sex with someone unless I genuinely feel something for them. If I do, I’m putting myself in jeopardy.”

The Post also says that Haney writes about how Woods actually enjoyed all the attention — albeit negative — he was getting after his sex scandal went public, especially when “South Park” featured him calling his ex-wife a “crazy b-tch” and a “stupid Swedish cow” as she swung at him with a golf club.

And then there was this fun detail about a prank Tiger pulled on “devout Christian” Zach Johnson when the two shared a hotel room during the 2006 Ryder Cup:

Tiger “immediately purchased the adult-movie 24-hour package and turned the television on.”

Johnson ignored the porn.

“It was so funny watching him acting like everything was normal,” Woods told Haney. “I got him pretty good.”

I’m not sure what Haney’s motivation for writing this book was, other than money. He comes off as quite the sleazeball for doing it, in fact. That’s not to say I haven’t enjoyed all the book’s wonderful leaked-out details, but maybe now I look at him more dismissively as I watch him on TV tell Mario Batali how to swing a golf club.

Memo to Stevie & Hank:  We won’t go so far as to say that Tiger “made” either of you.  People around the tour knew about you, Stevie, pre-Tiger, but those of us who follow the Tour on television had no clue who you were.  You became his caddie and his buddy and, voila, all of us knew who Stevie Williams was.  Pretty much the same deal with you, Hank.  During your pre-Tiger days, we may have heard your name, but that was about it.  You became his swing coach and, voila, all of us knew who Hank Haney was.  No, he didn’t “make” either of you.  But he “made” both of you rich.  And the thanks he gets for making both of you rich is that both of you take advantage of the relationship that made you rich so that you can get, well, richer.  Stevie, you’re just a damn caddie.  You carry someone else’s golf bag.  You’ve never made a shot that made you any prize money in your life.  And, Hank.  You’re just a damn swing coach.  You may tweak other people’s swings so that they can make the big shots, but apparently you couldn’t ever make them yourself.  Neither of you needs to give us that crap about not owing Tiger anything.  Both of you owe him big time.  And this is how you repay him?  Stevie, you can’t stop dogging him to a press that wouldn’t speak to you before you became Tiger’s caddie.  Hank, you start taking estrogen so that you can write a tell-all book that deserves nothing more than a spot next to People Magazine at the grocery store.  Both of you suck.

Class always acts the same way whether in public, or private, and it’s obvious Tiger has no class. Have to love the way Tiger groupies whine and cry betrayal at this author, yet it’s OK for Tiger to betray his wife and kids by committin adultery with 125 women as he claims. Guess that betrayal is OK? The real trash here is Tiger.

Here’s the big question that needs to be answered. Everyone knows Tiger is as cheap as they come, so why did he readily hand over $10,000,000 to Rachel Uchetel to keep her form talking? He didn’t care if the other 124 sex partners talked about their affair, as he didn’t pay any of them one penney of hush money, only her. So, why just her? What does she know that Tiger is afraid of the public and the PGA finding out?

I find it truly fascinating that two “MEN” (term used loosly Hank, Steve) can violate the code so easily and throw Tiger head first into a meat grinder! Anyone know of the shadowy world of PGA golf for real? Tiger’s exploits are not out of the norm folks for these guys in any way. I have had the pleasure of working at a place that houses these MEN of prodigous appetites both on and off the course. The bevy of babes never stopped! I myself must admit the PGA tour has been good to me and thats just the overflow guys! The real irony of it all was that on Sunday the well known victor of the tournament kissed a woman that looked nothing like the leggy bombshell he roomed with! Hey Hank, Steve here is some advice for you and the rest of the PGA. Recognize who brought the great gentlemens game to unprecedented popularity and paydays. Remember judgemental folks that Jack, Tom, Lee, and yes even Arnie never had ESPN living vicariously through them.

Tiger’s lack of moral fiber is now well documented and like many have said, it is not uncommon for those who are rich and famous to become targets for women without moral character. The sadest part of this equation is just how valueless and amoral so many woman have become today, willing to jump into bed with anyone, including married woman who are encouraged by the trash delivered by television and other media and dream up false excuses to be unfaithful to their husbands. Trashy shows and articles that exalt infidelity, adultry and promiscuous sex as “normal behaviors” for married women while insinuating that fidelity is corny or old fashioned.  Marriage vows are often meaningless to them or rationalized away by a large segment of the two generations of woman from the past 20 to 40 years who are without any understanding of honor, character and the importance of taking sacred and meaningful vows to devote oneself to a marriage, to family and to their husbands.  It is no wonder that so many men are reluctant to enter into a marital relationship in the first place when there are so many women which place no real value on it.

This seems very one-sided.  Aren’t the same vows taken by men?  Have not the same vows been thrown away by them?  I don’t ever remember hearing anything about Tiger’s wife having extramarital affairs?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Marino/100002425354078 Jim Marino

The point of the comment was not that there are not men who are unfaithful and who have violated marriage vows.  The point is the vast increase in women who ignore their commitments and vows.  If your point is that “woman’s lib” or the general degradation of social and moral values occurring and glorified by trash T.V. shows and magazine article,s is not unique to women I certainly agree.  But the huge increase in marriage infidelity and divorce of women in the group from 40 to 60 years of age is the shocking and new phenomena.  The post explains my belief as to why there has been this massive degeneration in what was previousoy considered a most solid basis in marriage and family relationships, often marriages that are 20 to 30 years or more in duration.  This onslaught is driven by women who now think that once the children are grown and/ or they just get “tired” of the man they married, it is now socially acceptable to be unfaithful and to “bug out” of their marriage commitment! This phenomena is expressed in the Tiger Woods scenario by the fact that extramarital sex is perfectly appropriate and socailly acceptable as evidenced by the many women who went to bed with Tiger Woods and knew his marital status and didn’t care.  The point speaks to the demise of marriage and the lasting commitment it requires from both spouses and the demise of these values in our society today.

Right on Rusty. They were both nothings until Tiger made them “somebodies” and this is how they repay him. Well, take your Judas money, both of you, aren’t you proud of yourselves? I hope it comes back and bites you both in the end.  Pun intended.
Just win some Tiger, and both will be long forgotten.

Tiger is a very unhappy, immature individual.  All of his money won’t buy him happiness.  How sad.

I believe that the women who came out publicly to express that they had a relationship with Tiger were all single women, not those who had been in a marriage for 20 to 30 years.

Have you ever considered that some women have “bugged out” of their marriage commitment due to the actions that were brought on by the relationship, or should I say non-relationship, with their husbands.  Maybe they were at a point in their lives where they had enough of their spouses actions and infidelities.  This is not about women’s lib but many women might have just gotten to the point in their lives when they are not going to stay in a marriage just because it was traditionally the socially acceptable thing to do.

Your response seems very one-sided blaming women for the moral decay of society due to programs on reality TV.  You also might want to consider that more educated women are in the work force allowing them to be financially independent and not having to consider financial reasons for staying in a bad relationship.

Sounds as if you have personally been burned by “one of those women”.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jim-Marino/100002425354078 Jim Marino

I am not speaking of those who divorced their husbands for good reason.  I am talking about those who were unfaithful during their marriage and did not have good reason but fabricated reasons or rationalized excuses that were, at least in significant part, a result of decaying social mores, or lack of any to begin wth, in present society. One that glorifies infidelity and adultery. One need only look at the line up on televsion creating the role models for these unfaithful women.  Perhaps you have a better explanation for the huge increase in infidelity and divorce in women in the 40 to 60 year old range demonstrated by recent statistics. Do you have information that it is largely becasue of their husbands conduct, or the financial independence of being in the workforce? A more likely expalantion about the “workforce” is the opportunity it presents for infidelity and adultery by these same women. That is the basic premise of shows like “Mad Man” which in annoncing it’s upcomming season presented advertisements on T.V. announcing boldly tha “adultery is back” and infidelity is back”, and you think that the “Desparate Housewives” are just rightiously tired of their husbands or their family and marriage commitments and their behaviors are morally appropriate?.

Can you discern fact from fiction?  Every statistic you claim to have is based on a television show or series.  Maybe you should get out more.

You say that as if you can name one player who is true “class” off the greens…because I am willing to bet a large percentage of them, especially those as famous and rich as Tiger is, were not classy. My problem is when Tiger’s “secret” un-classiness  as you call it is made public for money. Imagine if things you did in your life was thrown into a book for millions to read while the person you trusted got paid for it. Wouldn’t you be mad? Or because you live a perfect Jesus-like life, you are going to play Devil’s Advocate and say “I live perfect, and I am classy…so…”….knowing that is not true and even less true for people whose lives are already surreal with the money and power that comes with celebrity status. I am not saying Tiger is right, but I am saying he falls for the same thing that tons of athlete’s fall for, it’s just unfortunate that when the people around them are supposed to serve as guides, they are sycophants who make the whole World they live in relevant for what it really is….

Not unhappy just a better player when he is getting his share and yours of lovin. That does’nt make him immature either, just horny! How may I ask do you know about his pleasure or pains Mr Telco? So is this just your own personal high horse or can anyone get a ride? A little advice Mr. T dont think “how sad” but be glad we have had some of the greatest moments in all of sport provided by that very unhappy, immature individual that you seem to know so well. Dont be so mean Mr.T.

Without throwing morals or no morals into the equation, what Rusty said is very true. So many people who are in the sports elite world are tempted and do wrong. Then there are the so-called friends who after they have made their fortunes off the sports ledgend, they then slap him in the face and make even more off the once compasionate relationship. Too bad they never read the Bible where Jesus states, “Those without sin cast the first stone.”

Here’s the bottom line….if Tiger is in the field, I watch on Thursday and Friday.  If Tiger is in the hunt on the weekend, I’m all in.  I don’t care what he did off the course.  Steve and Hank are nothing without Tiger.
