Tiger Woods sinks amazing chip shot on 16 en route to victory at the Memorial (Video)
Tiger Woods is now tied for second all-time in PGA Tour wins with Jack Nicklaus at 73 after his final-round comeback victory at the Memorial Tournament on Sunday. But it’s safe to say Tiger wouldn’t get this win — his second this year — if it wasn’t for the shot you see above, his incredible chip-in birdie on the par-3 16th.
Down two strokes with three holes left to play, Tiger was facing a potential bogey as his ball lay in the rough outside of the green. But in retro form Tiger turned the impossible into reality, sinking the 50-foot flop shot and producing resounding cheers from the gallery. The shot came during a stretch where he birdied three of the final four holes. Nicklaus called it “the most unbelievable, gutsy shot I’ve ever seen.”
And Tiger’s celebration? Classic Eldrick.
