Phil Kessel does not care about scoring title because ‘I have two Cups’
Phil Kessel is in the mix for the Art Ross Trophy, but he doesn’t seem to care too much about it.
Kessel was asked Friday whether he has been following the points race in the NHL. He gave a pretty awesome answer.
“I got two Cups,” Kessel said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “Doesn’t really matter.”
How do you not love that?
Kessel has scored 24 goals this season and recorded 66 points. He entered Friday tied with teammate Evgeni Malkin for fourth in the league in points, though Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov has a comfortable lead over everyone with 76 points.
Perhaps Kessel feels that as long as he keeps playing well, everything will fall into place. And for a guy once considered a stats guy who couldn’t win, seeing things be reversed has to feel good.
