Maria Sharapova would love to act in movie

Maria Sharapova has expanded her business interests recently, and now the tennis star says she would love to act in a movie one day.

Sharapova was in India recently to discuss an upcoming business project when she revealed her desire to participate in the movie business.

“Right now, too many things are happening in life. I’m tied up with my matches, brand associations and several other commitments. But someday, given an opportunity I would love to act in a Hollywood movie,” she said, according to the Hindustan Times.

Sharapova is the latest athlete to express interest in an acting career. MMA star Ronda Rousey recently hinted that she would want to participate in a movie, and Anderson Silva is set to make his on-screen debut in a Steven Seagal flick.

Despite being born in Russia, Sharapova doesn’t have a hint of an accent, but she could use some improvement on her acting skills. Still, it’s a somewhat surprising response from someone who said she would refuse an invitation to appear in “Dancing With the Stars.”
