Vikings coach addresses potential Daniel Jones interest
The Minnesota Vikings have been named as a possible landing spot for Daniel Jones, and coach Kevin O’Connell did not exactly quiet those rumors on Monday.
O’Connell was asked about the Vikings’ possible interest in Jones on Monday after the New York Giants released the quarterback. The coach said he did not want to get into Jones, future, but admitted he is a “big fan” of the former Giant.
“I really can’t get into too much about any short-term or long-term. I can just say that I’ve been a big fan of Daniel’s for a long time and I hope wherever his next step takes him, it’s a good opportunity for him,” O’Connell said.

The Vikings have been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Jones, who is said to be looking for a playoff contender to land with. Nick Mullens is the Vikings’ backup right now. Starter Sam Darnold is arguably one of the weakest starting quarterbacks on any contender given his career resume, though he is 9-2 as a starter with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions for Minnesota this season.
Jones might have a more tempting landing spot available to him, but the Vikings remain a team to watch.
