A’s reportedly looking at 3 venues for home games
With their lease at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum up after the 2024 season, the Oakland A’s will soon need a new place to play their home games. And with construction of their new Las Vegas facility not scheduled for completion until 2028, the organization may become nomadic for a few years.
This week, A’s executives toured (or are scheduled to tour) multiple sites from Sacramento to Salt Lake City looking for a placeholder.
Front Office Sports reports that three minor league stadiums are under consideration: Smith’s Ballpark in Salt Lake City, Greater Nevada Field in Reno and Sutter Health Park in Sacramento.
All three ballparks currently house Triple-A affiliates for Major League clubs.
2025-2027 venues under consideration by the A's include:
• Smith’s Ballpark, home of the Salt Lake Bees
• Greater Nevada Field, home of the Reno Aces
• Sutter Health Park — home of the Sacramento River Catshttps://t.co/pcdAFxk4uV— Front Office Sports (@FOS) January 19, 2024
Although the A’s have not yet toured Smith’s Ballpark, the Larry H. Miller Company met with their representatives and proposed an alternate solution — and an alternate location.

The new ballpark in Daybreak is scheduled to open in 2025 and was initially going to serve as home field for the Salt Lake City Bees. This proposal suggests the Bees remain at Smith’s Ballpark while the A’s take advantage of the brand new facility.
Greater Nevada Field, which will house the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Triple-A affiliate Reno Aces, is also still under construction.
While the A’s look into these outside venues, other options include sharing Oracle Park with the San Francisco Giants or renewing the lease at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. But the latter is something the A’s hope to avoid.
