The Chicago Cubs are wasting no time making big changes after their latest playoff-less season.

Jesse Rogers of ESPN reported on Monday that the Cubs have made several coaching staff firings. First-base coach Mike Napoli (a former MLB catcher), hitting coach Jim Adduci (a former MLB outfielder), bullpen coach Darren Holmes (a former MLB pitcher), and multiple strength coaches have all reportedly been let go.

Chicago had a very middling 2024 under their new manager Craig Counsell. They finished at 83-79 (.512), putting together an offense that ranked in the bottom of half of MLB and ended up missing the postseason for a fourth consecutive year.

Counsell, a three-time NL Central division champion as the manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, made clear at times his frustration with the season too. Now Counsell will be moving ahead into 2025 and beyond with an almost entirely new coaching staff.
