Chicago Cubs star outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong didn’t take long to join the 40-40 club.
On Thursday against the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field, Crow-Armstrong started the game with a walk. He then stole second base, becoming only the 7th player in MLB history to record 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a season.

The most recent players to accomplish the feat were Shohei Ohtani (2024) and Ronald Acuna Jr. (2023), and prior to that, nobody had done it since Alonso Soriano in 2006.
After Crow-Armstrong put his name in the record books, fans had the same thought: He is, by far, this year’s National League MVP winner.

At this rate, Crow-Armstrong is running away with the NL MVP award, and insider Jon Heyman even predicted that the Cubs star should be the unanimous winner when it’s all said and done.
Crow-Armstrong now has 45 home runs with 107 RBIm 119 runs scored and 40 stolen bases in a monster season.
