Dodgers’ World Series berth creates wild Los Angeles sports equinox
With the Los Angeles Dodgers headed back to the World Series, a quadruple witching of sorts is coming for the city.
The Dodgers officially clinched the NL pennant with a 10-5 victory over the New York Mets in Game 6 of their NLCS series on Sunday. As a result, the Dodgers will be hosting Game 1 of the World Series against the New York Yankees on Friday, Oct. 25.
Eric Sondheimer of the Los Angeles Times shared just how crazy that Friday will be in terms of L.A. sporting events. In addition to the opening game of the World Series, the Los Angeles Lakers are hosting the Phoenix Suns at Crypto.com Arena that same night and USC football is hosting Rutgers at The Coliseum. It gets even more nuts too as both SoFi Stadium and Santa Ana Stadium will be hosting major high school football games that night as well, and Intuit Dome will even have a concert (guitarist David Gilmour of Pink Floyd fame).
Friday night in L.A.: Game 1 World Series, Yankees vs. Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Lakers-Suns at Crypt. USC-Rutgers at Coliseum. Concert at Intuit Dome. Roosevelt-Garfield at SoFi Stadium. St. John Bosco-Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium. Pray for every driver.

Almost all of those events will be taking place within about 15 miles from each other. So needless to say, locals will want to keep as far away from the freeways that night as possible.
The Dodgers are obviously the biggest draw of the bunch as this is the first time that the World Series has been in Los Angeles since 2018 (Arlington, Tex. played host to the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series title). They are also going up against another marquee star-driven franchise in the Yankees, creating a matchup that has been a long time in the making.
