Indians’ Jose Ramirez appears to deny ‘fake news’ PED report
Contrary to an Internet rumor that gained a bit of steam on Tuesday, Jose Ramirez does not appear to have a suspension for PEDs incoming.
A Dominican blog called “WIKIRD” posted a seemingly unsubstantiated story linking the Cleveland Indians infielder to the use of performance-enhancing drugs and the accompanying 80-game suspension under MLB policy.

Shortly after the story was published, Ramirez posted a tweet where he appeared to deny the rumors, calling them “fake news.”

The post was apparently a big enough deal that Indians manager Terry Francona even took some time to respond to it. Francona said that there was no truth to the rumors and that Ramirez “got a big kick” out of them, also adding that the league had not informed them of any supposed violation.

Ramirez, 25, is batting .291 with 15 homers and 37 RBIs so far this season for the AL Central-leading Indians. He’s not the only Cleveland player who has had to shoot down unfounded rumors about himself in recent days either.
