If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Jered Weaver has looked like a Cy Young contender through the early part of the 2012 MLB season, but he could not beat the Rangers on Sunday night. In fact, he was shellacked by them. Just two starts after his no-hitter, Weaver allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits and could not get out of the fourth inning. With the way the Rangers’ offense has been clicking this year, not many pitchers have gone deep into games in Arlington this season.
Either he wanted to show Rangers fans that he wasn’t phased by hearing Ray Charles’ “Hit the Road, Jack” after throwing 3 and 1/3 brutal innings, or Weaver just really likes the tune. Whatever the reason, Jered decided to sing along on his way off the mound. Another day, another victim in Texas. At least this one appears to have handled it well.
