FOX announcer Joe Buck hilariously roasted Manny Machado while calling Thursday night’s Miami Dolphins-Houston Texans game.
Miami’s Jakeem Grant was returning a punt in the first quarter and got kicked by a defender on the ground. The officials missed what should have been a penalty, but Buck did not miss the opportunity to crack a joke at Machado’s expense.
Troy Aikman said it looked like he had come in with a slide into second spikes-high, leading to Buck’s joke:
Machado drew criticism during the NLCS for a slide into second where he made contact with Orlando Arcia. Machado further angered the Brewers with a dirty play at first base during Game 4 of the series that has sullied his reputation. It’s gotten so bad that now he’s the player who comes to mind when you think of a slide with the cleats up. That’s not good, though it’s unlikely to cost him money in free agency.
