Kansas City Public Library trolls Blue Jays on Twitter

After a surprise World Series berth in 2014 and now with a 3-1 series lead in the ALCS over the Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals players and fans alike carry themselves with a haughty sense of arrogance these days. Now, the misguided hubris and the premature trash-talking has even infiltrated local educational institutions.

In the aftermath of the Royals’ 14-2 walloping of the Toronto in Game 4 on Tuesday, the Kansas City Public Library took some time out of their busy literary schedules to jab the Blue Jays on Twitter. The library’s official account tweeted out an image of three books stacked on top of each other to display the message, “Canada. Sorry you lost. What bluebirds do.”

Clever. But just one problem: the series is still far from over. Twelve teams in MLB history have overcome a 3-1 deficit to win a postseason series and with the flying death machine that is the Toronto offense, it’s hard to put it out of the realm of possibilities for the 2015 Blue Jays too.

The Toronto Public Library is well-aware of that much and fired back at their Missouri counterparts Wednesday on their own Twitter account, even using some wisdom from the late great Yogi Berra. Their trio of stacked books revealed the message, “Warning. Kansas City. It ain’t over till it’s over.”

With Game 5 of the series set for Wednesday, hopefully the Kansas City Public Library didn’t just jinx their Royals like this local governor did to his team earlier in the playoffs.
