Mookie Betts is not expected to miss any time despite leaving Sunday’s 4-3 win over the New York Mets due to soreness in his side.
The Boston Red Sox star was 0-for-2 with an RBI and two strikeouts before hurting himself on a throw home. He was replaced in the field by Tzu-Wei Lin.
The Boston Globe’s Pete Abraham noted that Betts spent time on the disabled list earlier this season with an abdominal strain, which caused some concern that he may have re-aggravated a condition.
Left side soreness for Mookie Betts. He will be evaluated further, say the Red Sox.
Betts was on the disabled list from May 29 to June 11 with an abdominal strain on his left side.

However, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that he still expects Betts to DH during the team’s next game, which is on Tuesday against the rival New York Yankees.
Cancel the panic. Alex Cora said Mookie Betts is fine and should start Tuesday, probably as the DH. Just a little sore. It was Bradley who called it to their attention.

At 103-47, the Red Sox have the best record in MLB and have already clinched a playoff spot. Betts is batting .337 with a 1.049 OPS this season.
