New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso has showcased some incredible power in his first MLB season, and one of his bats paid the price for that noteworthy strength during Sunday’s game against the San Francisco Giants.
Alonso was not happy with himself for striking out to end the top of the third, so he took his frustration out on his bat by snapping it over his knee like a toothpick.

Alonso, who won the Home Run Derby earlier this month, has 33 home runs and 75 RBI on the season. He’s not the first guy to snap a bat over his knee, but he sure made it look easy. His bat snap happened to come on the same day that a golfer broke a club over his knee at the British Open, so you could say it was a bad day for sports equipment.
