The red-hot Philadelphia Phillies are having to come back to earth a bit.

Phillies star shortstop Trea Turner revealed to reporters on Saturday that he expects to be out for six weeks with a hamstring injury. Turner added that any return sooner than that would be “a win,” per Matt Gelb of The Athletic.

The former NL batting champion Turner, who has since been placed on the 10-day IL by the Phillies, injured his hamstring on a slide into home plate against the San Francisco Giants on Friday night. Initially, Turner only expected to miss a couple of days with the injury.

Turner had been putting together another All-Star-caliber season for the Phillies, who are now an MLB-best 22-11. He was batting a career-high .343 with two home runs, 9 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases while also appearing in all 33 games. Now it is possible that Philadelphia will be without Turner until the second half of the MLB season. That is brutal news for Turner, who now becomes the latest prominent MLB name to be felled by a hamstring injury.
