Boston Red Sox fans have been begging for their slumping team to call up Roman Anthony, and the slugger is doing everything he can to force that move.
Anthony, who is the top overall prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, blasted a grand slam for the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox on Saturday that traveled nearly 500 feet. Worcester had the bases loaded and was leading 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Anthony turned on a fastball and sent it into orbit.
Statcast measured the blast at 497 feet with an exit velocity of 115.6 mph.

As Bridget Reilly of the New York Post notes, there have only been four home runs in the majors that went further than Anthony’s since Statcast began tracking in 2015. The homer was also the longest one measured this season in either the minors or majors.
Anthony is batting .290 with 10 homers and 29 RBI across 57 games in Triple-A this season. The Red Sox entered Sunday with a record of 31-35 and are in fourth place in the AL East.
With Alex Bregman injured and Kristian Campbell struggling, it is unclear what the Red Sox are waiting for with Anthony. Fans have made it clear that they want to see the 21-year-old play at Fenway Park, and it would not be a surprise if they get their wish before long.
