Reds announce they have hired David Bell as manager

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Sunday that they have found their next manager, and it is someone who has worked in their minor league system before.

According to the team’s official Twitter account, David Bell will be introduced as the new manager on Monday.

Bell, a former MLB infielder who grew up in Cincinnati, worked for four seasons as a manager in the Reds’ minor league system from 2008-2011. The 46-year-old was the vice president of player development for the San Francisco Giants for the past two seasons. His father, Buddy, is a former manager and currently works in the Reds’ front office.

The Reds reportedly preferred a different managerial candidate, but he withdrew from consideration over the weekend.
