Rougned Odor offered free BBQ for life for punching Jose Bautista
Rougned Odor was suspended eight games for punching Jose Bautista in the face last Sunday. However, not all of the fallout was bad.
Bautista isn’t the most popular man in Texas after his epic bat flip during a game against the Rangers in last year’s playoffs. So, to no one’s surprise, Odor swinging on Bautista (and connecting) was met with applause at Globe Life Park and across the state. Among those to approve is Travis Heim, owner of a barbecue restaurant in Fort Worth.
Heim Barbecue is set to open in June. And, when it does, Rougned Odor will have the opportunity to eat there for free for the rest of his life.
“We just thought it would be a funny thing if we Rougie free food because he wasn’t the only one who wanted to punch Bautista after last year, so you know, it’s kind of a justice, a little bit,” Heim told Dallas-Fort Worth’s NBC 5.
Heim is also selling shirts with “Rougned Eats Free” on the front.
There aren’t many better places to get barbecue than Texas, so I don’t think anyone would question Odor taking Heim up on his offer. Well, Heim may if Odor goes overboard.
“Hopefully he doesn’t like barbecue too much because then we might be in the red,” Heim said. “It’s just a fun deal, you know.”
No harm in that and the menu looks pretty good. Sounds like a win-win situation. Odor gets good food and Heim Barbecue gets the publicity.
