Starlin Castro agrees to sign with Nationals
The Washington Nationals continue to make moves to boost their chances of repeating as World Series champions.
The Nationals have agreed to terms with infielder Starlin Castro, as first reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Joel Sherman of the New York Post added that it was a two-year contract.
Free-agent infielder Starlin Castro in agreement with #Nationals, pending physical, sources tell The Athletic. Move would not take them out of Donaldson sweepstakes. Plan is for Castro to play second base.

The Nationals used the likes of Brian Dozier and Asdrubal Cabrera at second base in 2019. Both became free agents after the season, and Castro should settle the position. He hit a respectable .270 with 22 home runs last season for the Miami Marlins.
One of the busier teams this offseason, Washington already added a key reliever to bolster their bullpen. They’re still in the running for Josh Donaldson to replace Anthony Rendon at third base as well.
