Yankees’ JA Happ would ‘love’ to start wild-card game

JA Happ

The New York Yankees have remained silent in response to the biggest question they’re facing, but JA Happ is hoping to provide them an answer.

Ever since the Yanks have looked like a lock for the wild-card game, fans and reporters have wondered who will start the do-or-die playoff contest. JA Happ, Masahiro Tanaka and Luis Severino seem like the three likeliest options, with many fans preferring Happ. The southpaw is hoping he’ll be picked for the task.

"I'd love to get the nod (in the Wild Card Game), I can say that, but I think we're going to feel good with whoever is out there. We'll see how it plays out." – J.A. Happ

Happ has gone 17-6 this season and is 7-0 with the Yankees. Though he gave up four runs over six innings against the Red Sox on Friday night, he got plenty of run support in an 11-6 win. He’s been so money for them — they’ve won 9 of his 11 starts — it would be hard to envision him not getting the nod.
