Yovani Gallardo contract with Orioles on hold over medicals
Yovani Gallardo’s contract with the Baltimore Orioles is on hold reportedly over medicals.
Gallardo and the Orioles agreed to a three-year, $35 million deal, but the team apparently has questions about the medical exam given to the pitcher.
Gallardo, who will be 30 this season, agreed to the contract over the weekend and took a physical on Monday. The team ordered more tests after reviewing an MRI. The Baltimore Sun’s Eduardo A. Encina reports that Orioles have concerns with Gallardo’s shoulder.
The #Orioles' concern w/ Yovani Gallardo is his shoulder, but he has no record of shoulder issues. He's been durable throughout his career.

MASN’s Roch Kubatko says the Orioles hope to have the results back on Gallardo Wednesday.
If the Orioles do sign Gallardo, they would have to surrender a top-30 pick in the draft as part of compensation after the pitcher turned down a qualifying offer from the Texas Rangers. The loss of the pick adds extra reason for the Orioles to be even more cautious with their investment in the pitcher.
Gallardo is 102-75 with a 3.66 ERA during his career. He has thrown at least 180 innings each of the past seven seasons.
