Bucks’ top shooter expected to leave this offseason

The Milwaukee Bucks’ supporting cast may be undergoing a real overhaul this summer.

Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes reported this week that Bucks sharpshooter Malik Beasley is not expected to return to the team for next season. Haynes notes that Beasley signed a one-year deal for the veteran’s minimum with Milwaukee last summer but that he could now seek a contract for the full mid-level exception (around $13 million per year).

Beasley, 27, is coming off a nice season for the Bucks in which he was their regular starting shooting guard. He led the team with 224 total threes made and a 41.3 shooting percentage from deep, even participating in the Three Point Contest at NBA All-Star Weekend. Even though Beasley had a couple of lowlights during the year, it was still a very successful platform campaign for him heading into free agency.

As a second-apron luxury-tax team, the Bucks are not able to use the mid-level exception, making it all but certain that Beasley will walk this summer. That may not be the only change that Milwaukee undergoes to their starting five either as we recently heard that another veteran Buck could be traded.
