Sager and Scott are two of the more beloved broadcasting figures over the past three decades. Scott died in 2015 after losing his battle with cancer at the age of 49. He was a popular figure on ESPN from the time of his hire in 1993 until his death. Sager was a reporter for Turner from 1980 until his death in 2016. He died from leukemia at the age of 65.
Both men were recipients of the Jimmy V Perseverance Award prior to their deaths.
Sager was known for his colorful and crazy clothing, not unlike Green’s jacket. The tribute was fitting.
