Darren Collison is sticking by his offseason decision to retire from the NBA.

Collison surprisingly announced his retirement over the summer even though he was a free agent and set to receive multiple contract offers. A report in early January said the point guard was considering coming out of retirement to join either the Los Angeles Clippers or Lakers.

Collison even attended a recent Lakers game at Staples Center and was said to be 50-50 on a return.

However, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski says Collison informed teams that he wasn’t ready for a return.

Veteran guard Darren Collison has decided that he won’t return to the NBA this season and plans to stay retired, league sources tell ESPN. Lakers and Clippers had been courting him, but Collison has informed teams that the timing isn’t right for him.

Collison cited his desire to be active in his religion as the reason for his retirement.

The Clippers already made a move at the trade deadline, acquiring Marcus Morris from the Knicks. The Lakers did not make trades, but they still could have an addition in mind.
