Dillon Brooks’ new contract with the Phoenix Suns seems [checks notes] actually pretty reasonable.
The Suns are rewarding their veteran swingman Brooks with a new three-year, $73 million contract extension, Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Wednesday. Brooks’ new deal now takes him through the 2029-30 NBA season in Phoenix.
In response to the news, fans all said the same thing over social media. They expressed the belief that Brooks’ contract was actually something of a steal.
That is an ELITE contract wow

Instantly one of the best contracts. What a steal! https://t.co/nlPZRdnEy9

$24M for what Dillon Brooks provides feels like great value for PHX. Thought he’d get closer to $30M tbh https://t.co/CgZMm7vakn

At $24.3 million per year, Brooks is getting paid less than a number of other notable NBA wings in his skill tier. Among those making more than Brooks are Sacramento’s Keegan Murray ($28 million average annual value), San Antonio’s Devin Vassell ($27 million AAV), Toronto’s RJ Barrett ($26.75 million AAV), and Denver’s Christian Braun ($25 million AAV).
That seems pretty agreeable considering the season that Brooks, 30, just had. He averaged a career-high 20.2 points per game while also providing stellar defense and helping the Suns clinch a surprise playoff berth at 45-37 despite despite having little marquee talent around franchise player Devin Booker.
The former All-Defensive selection Brooks is known mostly as a meme thanks to his own incessant shenanigans. But now Brooks has become the latest quality role player to extend his contract with the Suns this summer, joining the likes of his teammates Mark Williams, Collin Gillespie, and Jordan Goodwin.
