Steve Kerr may not end up returning during the playoffs this year, but he remains in contact with his Golden State Warriors. And based on what Draymond Green says, the coach is handling his ongoing back problems quite well.
Green told reporters on Monday that he recently had a phone call with Kerr, who sounded “upbeat.”

“He sounds good. He sounds upbeat. He’s obviously pissed off he’s not here and states that every opportunity he gets,” Green said. “He definitely sounds upbeat, like he’s moving in the right direction.”
The Warriors have not lost a playoff game while Kerr has been out, and Green added that the players are more concerned for the coach’s health than they are about how his absence affects the team.
“We just want him to feel better,” Green said. “It’s not to come back to this. We just want to see somebody feel good about living life every day and be healthy.”
For what it’s worth, Kerr is feeling well enough to offer critiques.

The details regarding Kerr’s back problems sound extremely complicated. He had surgery back in 2015 and has gone stretches where he is perfectly fine, but the pain can return and be excruciating. Hopefully he is able to find a permanent solution.
