Draymond Green takes public shots at Grizzlies head coach over social media
Even if Dillon Brooks is no longer around, Draymond Green still hates the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Golden State Warriors star Green was involved in a controversial play during Friday’s win over Memphis. In the third quarter, Green turned the ball over on a drive to the basket, and in an attempt to halt the ensuing fast break opportunity, hooked the leg of Grizzlies seven-footer Zach Edey. As a result, Edey crashed hard to the floor (video here).
After the game, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins made no secret of his disgust over the play, saying that “there’s a code in this league” that Green had violated.
Grizzlies HC Taylor Jenkins on Draymond Green's take foul on Zach Edey: "We were about to start the break, and (Edey's) been playing really hard to try to outlet. Draymond grabs his leg and pulls him down. Doesn't get reviewed. I know there's a code in this league…

Green then fired back at Jenkins in a post to his Instagram Story over the weekend. “BOOOOOO!!!” Green wrote, along with a screenshot of Jenkins’ comments. “(I was trying to find a marshmallow emoji).”

It appears that Green was trying to label Jenkins as “soft” with the above marshmallow comment.
Green also left a comment on the original Instagram post, about Jenkins’ remarks, writing, “Shut up!”
For what it’s worth, the NBA agreed with Jenkins. A day after the incident, they upgraded Green’s foul on Edey to a flagrant foul (it had initially been called as a transition take foul, which is a kind of common foul).
But there is some definite history here between the Warriors and Grizzlies that should be noted. The two teams have had a rivalry over the last few seasons, even meeting in the 2022 NBA playoffs. In that series, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was irate over a flagrant foul committed by Memphis, saying that it had broken “the code” of the NBA. Jenkins was likely issuing a petty callback to those old comments by Kerr, which in turn led to an equally petty response by Green.
