Kyle Singler addressing the camera

A former Duke University standout is sparking concern this week with a series of videos that he posted to social media.

Kyle Singler took to Instagram with a pair of videos, the first posted Monday night and the second posted on Tuesday morning. In the first video, Singler said in part that “I have been mistreated and abused [and] neglected” and that “I fear for my life every day.” In the second video, he said in part that “everybody has played me into a fool” and that “I’m being held hostage.”

You can see the posts on Singler’s Instagram page here (but watch out for the bad language).

Kevin Love, Chandler Parsons, Andre Drummond, and Isaiah Thomas were among Singler’s former NBA peers who expressed support for him in the comments section of his posts. Love also posted a separate message to X asking for “love and support” for Singler.

To everyone who has spent time with Kyle Singler and whose lives he has touched – please shower him with the love and support he needs+deserves. I would not be who I am today without him. I am forever indebted and love him. To the NBA family, Duke BB family, & South Medford…

Singler, 36, starred as a forward at Duke from 2007-11, helping them win the 2010 national championship as the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. After beginning his professional career in Spain, Singler played in the NBA from 2012-18 for the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game on 36.2 percent three-point shooting overall in his six seasons.

Though he made over $22 million in his NBA career, Singler was out of the league by age 29. We had not heard much from Singler in recent years, but now he is resurfacing with these very concerning posts.
