Report: Fan accuses Suns rep of hitting on his wife, gets free tickets

The Phoenix Suns have some very interesting ways of trying to sell tickets.

In a recent email to a female fan, a Suns sales coordinator came off like he was trying to set up a date. At least, that’s how the fan’s husband felt about it. TMZ has a copy of the email, which reads as follows:

“My name is (redacted) and I wanted to reach out and introduce myself as your new contact with the Phoenix Suns. I don’t know if you live in the area, but I would love to grab lunch or dinner and just get to know you better and hear about what you do. I’ve been working with the Suns for about a year now and I’m always looking to network and get to know professionals in the valley.

“Would you be available to meet within the next two weeks?”

According to TMZ, the recipient’s husband sent a tweet to the Suns accusing the sales rep of hitting on his wife. The team insists that is not what happened, but they offered the couple two free tickets to the home game of their choice anyway.

A team representative told TMZ that it was a young employee who sent the email.

“It’s a coaching moment,” the rep said. “He’s a young, hard working kid who’s only a few month out of college. The lesson is just be more clear, so there’s no room for misinterpretation.”

Without more information, it’s really impossible to understand where this way going. The only thing I can think of is that the sales rep meant to send the email to a season ticket holder or someone who owns a luxury box for Suns games. Assuming he wasn’t hitting on the female fan, it makes no sense to just send an email like that trying to sell tickets.

And if the team was sending an email like that to a season ticket holder, they should try getting more creative like this NHL team did. That approach was kind of creepy.
