ABC’s broadcast team may want to brush up on the list of Memphis Grizzlies players.
On Sunday, ABC broadcasted the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 131-80 beatdown of the Grizzlies in Game 1 of their first-round series. The Thunder built up a 68-36 lead at halftime in a game that was decided well before the final buzzer.
With the score so lopsided, announcers Dave Pasch and Tim Legler had a lot of airtime to fill in the second half. The Thunder led 101-53 late in the third quarter when Legler started talking about injured Grizzlies rookie Jaylen Wells.
The camera cut to a player on the Grizzlies bench that a casual fan would have assumed was Wells. But ABC was actually showing another Grizzlies rookie, Zyon Pullin, instead.
The ABC broadcast don't have any idea who Jaylen Wells is (this is Zyon Pullin)

Wells himself reacted to the mistake, reposting the clip with an ellipsis as his caption.

Wells was diagnosed with a broken wrist, a concussion, and a facial laceration after the Grizzlies rookie suffered a nasty fall during an April 7 regular season game.
The Grizzlies could have definitely used Wells on Sunday against the Thunder. The Washington State alum started in 74 games for Memphis in his rookie campaign, posting averages of 10.4 points and 3.4 assists while also playing a key role defensively. But even a healthy Wells probably wouldn’t have changed the outcome of Sunday’s historic beatdown at the hands of the Thunder.
