Jamario Moon wants to return to Cavs

Jamario-Moon

Former NBA swingman Jamario Moon sees what the Cleveland Cavaliers did last season and what they have done this offseason, and the 35-year-old wants in on that action.

Moon played for the Cavs from 2009-2011. He has been out of the league since 2012, but he still thinks he could provide Cleveland with a boost off the bench — particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

Moon is probably jealous of Mo Williams, who signed a two-year deal earlier this week to return to the Cavs. Williams played in Cleveland from 2008-2011 and was teammates with Moon for two seasons. He was also an All-Star in 2009.

In an interview with Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders last week, Moon spoke more about attempting an NBA comeback.

“I have hit the gym harder than I’ve ever hit the gym before,” Moon said. “I was weighing in around 215, but I went in and put on some more weight and I’m knocking around 225 to 230 now. I figured putting on a couple extra pounds would help me on the defensive end because that’s what I didwhen I was in the league – I defended whomever they needed me to defend. I guarded wings, and dunked on people (laughs). I wanted to put on some weight, let these people know that I’m serious about coming back to the NBA and make an impact for a team.”

The odds aren’t in Moon’s favor, but we admire the passion. The Cavs appear to be aiming a bit higher this offseason in an attempt to return to the NBA Finals.
