Jeff Teague living in parents’ basement

After spending the first seven years of his NBA career with the Hawks, Jeff Teague was traded to the Pacers last month, who happen to play in his home town. Teague, of course, has family in the area and for the near future he will be living with some of them.

A few years ago, Teague bought a house in the area that he eventually gave to his mother and father. Now that he’s back in town, Teague decided to move back in with them.

“I bought a home here some years back, and when I re-signed back with Atlanta I just decided I was going to live in Atlanta and just gave the house to my mom and dad,” Teague said on the Query & Schultz Show on 97.5 FM in Indianapolis, as transcribed by Sporting News. “Now I’m going to live back in my old house with my mom and dad.”

Teague later said he will be staying in the basement.

When he isn’t sharing a house with mom and dad, Teague will be at the controls of a much improved Pacers team who has also added Thaddeus Young and Al Jefferson this offseason. With Paul George and Monta Ellis remaining, along with promising second-year player Myles Turner, Indiana has gone under a transformation that has some thinking they are now the second best team in the Eastern Conference behind the Cavaliers.

Teague averaged 15.7 points and 5.9 assists last season.
