The troubles continue for ex-NBA forward Kyle Singler.
Singler got arrested this week in Haskell County, Oklahoma, Lori Fullbright of News On 6 in Tulsa reported on Thursday. The now 37-year-old Singler was arrested for domestic violence, Fullbright adds.
No other details were immediately available about Singler’s arrest. But we know that Singler has faced a number of personal challenges in recent years.
Singler, who announced his retirement from professional basketball in 2019, made headlines last year over a series of concerning videos that he posted to his social media page. In the videos, a shirtless Singler said that he had been “mistreated and abused [and] neglected” and that he feared for his life “every day.”
The disturbing videos led to an outpouring of support for Singler, including from a number of his former teammates and peers in the NBA. Most notably, Kevin Love, Chandler Parsons, Andre Drummond, and Isaiah Thomas were among those who posted messages of encouragement addressed to Singler.
Singler was a four-year standout at Duke University and was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player when the Blue Devils won it all in 2010. He was then selected by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft (No. 33 overall).
At 6-foot-8, Singler played six total seasons in the NBA for both the Pistons and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He finished his NBA career with averages of 6.5 points, 2.9 rebounds per game, and 0.8 assists per game and also played for several years overseas in Spain.
