LeBron James’ 10-year-old son already has scholarship offers

LeBron-James-Jr

Earlier this week, a highlight video of LeBron James’ 10-year-old son went viral. LeBron Jr., aka Bronny, has some pretty serious game for a kid who is still in fourth grade. Is that old enough to be thinking about college?

The simple answer is no. There’s nothing wrong with having a bright future, but 10-year-old kids should be more concerned with which ice cream flavor they want than what they are going to do when they turn 18. Despite that, LeBron says his son has already received scholarship offers.

“Yeah, he’s already got some offers from colleges,” James told reporters on Tuesday, per Mike Sullivan of CBS Detroit. “It’s pretty crazy. It should be a violation. You shouldn’t be recruiting 10-year-old kids.”

We thought it was disturbing enough when to see 8th-graders receive scholarship offers from Division I football schools. But a 10-year-old? Come on.

It’s hard to believe that colleges can legally recruit a 10-year-old, but if someone buys a college athlete a cup of coffee while they’re in school it constitutes a recruiting violation. Talk about a messed up system.
