Lou Williams named his baby son Syx as nod to his Sixth Man of the Year awards
Lou Williams gave his newborn son a very fitting name.
Williams missed his LA Clippers’ game on Tuesday against Sacramento to attend his son’s birth on December 31. Williams named his son Syx and talked about it after the Clippers’ 126-112 win over the Pistons on Thursday night.
“I always said if I had a son, I was going to give him a unique name. Nothing was coming to me, so I just said, ‘you know what, I’m going to name him six, spell it a little different, and just have some fun with it,” Williams told FOX Sports’ Jamie Maggio.
Maggio asked how long it would be before Williams puts a basketball into his son’s hands.
“It won’t be long. Couple weeks. Give him time to eat a little bit, realize he’s in our world,” said Williams.
Syx is Williams’ third child and first son. So why “Syx”?
Williams, who is in his 15th NBA season, has won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award three times and is known for being a great sixth man.
FOX Sports ran a piece during Thursday’s game that included a photo of Williams’ children.
Syx for the 6th man.
